The list is divided into "Lifetime Science Influence Rankings" and "Annual Science Influence Rankings", focusing on the entire academic career and academic achievement in 2023, respectively. There are 6 teachers in the "Lifelong science influence rankings": Muhammad Shahbaz, Wei Yiming, Wang Zhaohua, Hao Yu, Ju Yanbing, Wang Ke; 20 teachers in the "Annual science influence rankings", Muhammad Shahbaz, Hao Yu, Wang Zhaohua, Wei Yiming, Wu Haitao, Zhang Bin, Ju Yanbing, Wang Bo, Wang Ke, Hou Fujun, Li Guo, Liao Hua, Yu Biying, Han Te, Tang Baojun, Zhang Yixiang, Liang Qiaomei, Zhu Bin, Zhao Xian, Qiu Qingxian.

World's Top 2% Scientists is released jointly by Stanford university and authoritative academic press Isevier, based on the comprehensive evaluation of the parameters such as the number of citations by about 10 million scientists worldwide, the h index, the co-author adjusted hm index, the number of citations as the only or the first author. Scientists from 176 sub-subjects of 22 disciplines made the list, reflecting both academic output and influence.
