【Mingli Lecture 2023, Issue 42】 Professor Klaus Hubacek of University of Groningen was invited to give an academic report

On May 24, 2023, Professor Klaus Hubacek of University of Groningen in the Netherlands was invited to give an online academic report entitled "Global Carbon inequality, power alliance, and the Paris agreement". The report will be chaired by Professor Wang Ke, with over 50 teachers and students from the center and college attending. Professor Klaus Hubacek discussed in the report how the COVID-19 unintentionally promoted the realization of the goals of the Paris Agreement, and whether the government could lift millions of people out of poverty without significantly increasing carbon emissions. In addition, the report also discusses the impact of the EU's green agreement and the current rise in energy prices on global income distribution, as well as whether there is any room for improvement in carbon taxes when the Cost of living crisis and income gap are already large.
