On August 5, 2021, Professor Burcu B. Keskin, Director of the Ph.D. program in Operations Management at the University of Alabama, presented an academic report entitled "Disrupting Supply Chains", delivered live online at Tencent Conference. More than 70 people, including some leaders, teachers and postgraduates of school of Management and Economics, attended the lecture, which was presided over by Professor Li Guo, director of Department of Management Science and Logistics of School of Management and Economics.
In the report, Professor Burcu B. Keskin first introduced the characteristics of wildlife trafficking and its adverse impact on social development, thus leading to the research content of the report. The research from the Angle of operation and supply chain, introduced the illegal wildlife trafficking, and through the analysis on the stop the wildlife trade faces unique challenges, build large data and intelligence algorithm combining with the monitoring, block, the method of eliminating the illegal wildlife trade is to reduce framework, and through the simulation verify the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed method.
The topic selection of the report is novel, and the method adopted is close to the forefront of information technology, which aroused great interest of teachers and students. Professor Burcu B. Keskin and the participating teachers and students carried out a heated discussion and exchange on this research. Everyone was deeply inspired, and the report received a warm response, which was highly praised by teachers and students!

Dr. Burcu B. Keskin is professor of Operations Management and Director of the Doctoral Program in Operations Management at the University of Alabama, and secretary and Treasurer of the INFORMS Optimization Institute. He has been engaged in the research of inventory theory, facility location, network design and vehicle routing for a long time. His research results have been published in Production and Operations Management. Naval Research Logistics, IISE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research and other international leading journals in the field of operations management. The research was awarded the Daniel H. Wagner Award for Operational Research Excellence in Practice in 2009 and 2014. Professor Keskin currently serves as the Supply Chain Management area Editor of 0MEGA Journal, International Journal of Production Economics, Computers and Operations Research and the INFORMS Journal of Applied Analytics
