At 3 pm on June 26, 2019, Professor Leon Clarke visited our school and gave an academic report entitled "Current Directions in Integrated Assessment Research and Modeling".This report was hosted by Professor Liang Qiaomei. The teachers and students of the Center participated in the report.

　　Dr. Leon Clarke is an energy and environmental expert specializing in climate change, climate change mitigation strategies, energy technology selection and comprehensive assessment models.He is currently the Director of Research at the Center for Global Sustainability and a Research Professor at the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland.He was the head of the Integrated Human Earth Systems Science Group and led a series of integrated assessment modeling activities at the Global Joint Change Institute at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in collaboration with the University of Maryland.Dr. Clarke has served as the author and coordinator of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), National Climate Assessment and National Research Council.He also led a series of multi-agency research on climate change mitigation.Dr. Clarke holds a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

　　In today's report, he mainly discussed the comprehensive evaluation model and reviews the development from the early 1970 to the present. By contrast, today's model has a wider coverage and higher resolution, which can solve the problem from food security to air pollution.This report focused on the development of integrated assessment models, gave examples of recent research, and pointed out the challenges as the discipline continues to evolve. After the report, Professor Clarke took a group photo with everyone.
